Mark Cuban Silences Dissent: Mavericks Fans Ejected for ‘Fire Nico’ Chant

A group of Mavericks fans voiced their displeasure with Nico Harrison, the GM of the Dallas Mavericks.

Nico Harrison faces growing fan discontent due to recent performance issues and the controversial trade of Luka Dončić to the Lakers.

During the game against the Sacramento Kings, two fans started a ‘Fire Nico’ chant directly below Mark Cuban, the Mavericks’ minority owner.

This prompted Cuban to stand up and tell them to ‘sit the f*** down,’ and later, he had them ejected.

The fans, however, continued chanting ‘Fire Nico’ on their way out of the arena.

Fans Ejected for ‘Fire Nico’ Sign

Earlier in the same game against the Kings, the camera briefly showed a fan silently saying the words ‘Fire Nico’ before quickly moving away.

Later, the camera returned to the fan and another supporter, both holding a “Fire Nico” sign.

Consequently, these fans were ejected for displaying this message.

The incident received mixed responses

The ejected fans argued that their behavior did not break any rules and felt they were being censored.

Many fans in the arena booed the decision, and some showed support by giving a thumbs-up as they were escorted out.

According to the Mavericks, they ejected the fans for causing a disturbance and violating the NBA Fan Code of Conduct

Mark Cuban later offered the ejected fans free courtside seats as a peace offering.
