As he recovers from a left adductor strain, Anthony Davis has been assigned to the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ G League affiliate.

His move highlights the team’s ongoing injury struggles.

Davis joined the Mavericks in a blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers.

Expected to strengthen the team’s defense, he has instead been sidelined by injuries, playing just one game since joining the Mavericks.

Dallas Sends Davis to G League Amid Injury Woes

Amid speculation about shutting him down for the season, the Mavericks have opted to send Davis to the Legends to continue his recovery.

According to ESPN, Davis will practice with the Legends and participate in full-court scrimmages to regain match fitness.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks’ injury struggles continue. Guard Jaden Hardy has also been sent to the Legends after missing seven games due to a sprained ankle.

Mavericks Face Depth Crisis

The Mavericks’ problems extend beyond Davis. They suffered a crushing 133-96 loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday, followed by another defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

With just one win in their last nine games, roster concerns are mounting.

The Mavericks’ injury troubles are nearing eligibility limits which could leave them shorthanded. NBA rules mandate at least 12 active players per game, with eight in uniform on the bench. While Dallas can avoid forfeits by listing injured players, their depth concerns remain serious.
