Rookie Yuki Kawamura made sure the Memphis Grizzlies’ season finale ended with a bang — and a viral moment.

In Sunday’s 132–97 blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks, Kawamura pulled off one of the flashiest assists of the year. Midway through the second quarter, the 23-year-old Japanese guard picked off a pass and, without even crossing half-court, launched a no-look, over-the-head bullet to Marvin Bagley III for an easy dunk.

The pass left the arena buzzing — and Ja Morant seeing it all.

The Grizzlies star, sidelined due to injury, mimicked his now-famous binoculars celebration from the bench, soaking in Kawamura’s magic. The moment quickly made the rounds on social media, drawing praise across the NBA world.

A Breakout Performance on the Big Stage

Kawamura, signed to a two-way deal earlier this season, made the most of his extended minutes. With several Grizzlies stars resting ahead of the playoffs, he finished with:

  • 12 points
  • 5 rebounds
  • 5 assists
  • And two viral highlights — the overhead dime and a behind-the-back assist to Pat Spencer for three.

Though he’s not eligible for the playoffs due to his contract status, Kawamura gave Memphis fans a glimpse of what could be next — and maybe a reason for the front office to lock him in long-term.
